
Manuel Kugler
Data & AI Programme Manager, Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW)
Manuel Kugler studied Materials Science at the ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. Following this, he worked as a research associate in the Micro and Nanosystems Group at ETH Zurich, as well as acting as a project leader for the spin-off company greenTEG, where he developed products and processes for the fabrication of thermoelectric heat flux sensors and generators.
Since October 2017 he has been responsible for the two priority programmes, Data and AI and Advanced Manufacturing, at the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences. In this role, he has led leading various projects aimed at improving data accessibility, raising public awareness, and fostering the responsible adoption of AI in Switzerland.
Since January 2025, he has been co-chair of the UK 42 Artificial Intelligence, the AI standardisation committee of the Swiss Association for Standardization.
