Melanie Kolbe-Guyot

Dr. Melanie Kolbe-Guyot is Head of Data Governance and Compliance at Data Competence Center (DCC) at the Statistical Office of the Canton of Basel-City. Originally from Berlin, Germany, she studied Political Science and International Affairs in both Germany and the United States, earning her PhD from the University of Georgia, Athens (USA), in 2015.

She previously served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, focusing on public policy and political economy. She was also Head of Policy at the Center for Digital Trust (C4DT) at EPFL in Switzerland. Melanie has led projects on digital trust and technology policy and has authored policy papers on data governance, privacy-preserving data-sharing technologies, and the use of AI in the public sector.
