Dr Nicolas Durand is the founder & CEO of Abionic. He was involved in the development of resonating biosensors at Carnegie Mellon University (USA), & winner of the 2006 Omega Award. He has several years of management experience in the Swiss Army as an Officer; in the robotic association he presided from 2002 to 2004 & as founder of the aeronautical association of EPFL, that he presided from 2007 to 2009. He was also granted the Young Entrepreneur Award 2010. His doctoral thesis on Nanotechnologies applied to Life Sciences at EPFL built Abionic's core technology.

With Abionic, Nicolas is the recipient of more than 20 entrepreneurial awards including the Young Entrepreneur Award. Notably, Nicolas was elected Captain of the Swiss Venture Leaders in 2010 who represented Swiss innovation in the USA. On the private side, Nicolas is married, has 2 kids and owns a pilot license with aerobatic.
