Thomas Burri

Thomas Burri is a Professor of International Law and European Law at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He has investigated robots, A.I., and tech in the perspective of law and ethics since 2012. Milestones include attendance at the Darpa Robotics Challenge in L.A. in 2015, a paper at NeurIPS in Barcelona 2016, and giving talks on tech at the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, and Stanford. Two of his latest initiatives are: the First University of St. Gallen Grand Challenge: the EU A.I. Act 2023, where a dozen international teams competed by assessing tech companies’ A.I. applications on compliance with the EU’s upcoming A.I. Act (www.thegrandchallenge.eu ) and the Law & Tech Lab at the University of St. Gallen, which he co-founded with 5 law professors.
